Accessibility Statement
AnkiCollab is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply the relevant accessibility standards.
Conformance Status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.
AnkiCollab is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.
Measures Taken
AnkiCollab takes the following measures to ensure accessibility:
- Sufficient colour contrast ratios for text and interactive elements (WCAG 1.4.3 & 1.4.11).
- Descriptive page titles for every page (WCAG 2.4.2).
- Keyboard-accessible navigation including visible focus indicators and a skip-to-content link (WCAG 2.1.1 & 2.4.1 & 2.4.7).
- Appropriate form labels, autocomplete attributes, and error identification (WCAG 1.3.5 & 3.3.1 & 3.3.2).
- ARIA landmarks, roles, and live regions for dynamic content (WCAG 4.1.2 & 4.1.3).
- Minimum touch/click target sizes of 24 × 24 CSS pixels (WCAG 2.5.8).
- Respecting user preferences for reduced motion (WCAG 2.3.3).
- Text alternatives for informative images (WCAG 1.1.1).
- Data table headers with proper scope attributes (WCAG 1.3.1).
-
Support for Windows High Contrast Mode via
forced-colorsmedia query.
Known Limitations
Despite our best efforts, some areas may have limited accessibility:
- Third-party rich text editor: The Trumbowyg WYSIWYG editor used for field editing may not be fully accessible to all assistive technologies. We have added ARIA labels to its toolbar buttons and are monitoring upstream improvements.
- User-generated content: Content submitted by users (e.g., Anki card fields) may not always meet accessibility requirements as it is outside our direct control.
- Complex data visualisations: Some statistics charts may not be fully perceivable by screen reader users. We aim to provide text alternatives where possible.
Compatibility
AnkiCollab is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:
- Screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver).
- Screen magnification software.
- Speech recognition software.
- Operating system accessibility features including High Contrast Mode.
AnkiCollab is not compatible with browsers older than three major versions or with Internet Explorer.

This accessibility statement is provided in line with the requirements of the European Accessibility Act (EAA) — Directive (EU) 2019/882 — to demonstrate our commitment to making our digital services accessible to all users, including persons with disabilities, across the European Union.
